Life has settled around my house since last Wednesday. The
hardest part of having furry friends in the family is the end of their lives. I
didn't think I'd miss Sammie's messy ways, but I do. He used to eat in my
office and more food would end up on the floor or my desk than in his mouth. I
miss the way he would rub his head over my hands while I typed and the way he
would paw at the cursor when I would move it. His antics in front of my monitor
used to annoy me because they made it difficult to work and now I miss it.
My last cat Leonardo misses Sammie too. He's looking for him
and hanging around my office more. Other than him missing his buddy he's doing
well, eating, drinking and taking his meds which we hope will help slow his
kidney failure. As the days have passed since last Wednesday I have felt a huge
relief come over me, I'm spending more time in my office, which I hadn't
realized I wasn't doing. My office is my favorite place to go and I’d been
avoiding it because Sammie was sick and that was where he chose to spend his
last few months.
Other aspects of life are returning as well, my youngest
daughter is getting antsy to move back into her room. I have one stripe to
finish and a second coat to roll on in her closet. Yesterday we took her to Bed
Bath and Beyond yesterday to purchase a few things for her room to help with
storage. We were looking for a curtain for her window and nothing was jumping
out, at least not until we saw this tie-dye shower curtain. Yep, you read
right, a shower curtain, for $20 she now has a single panel curtain for her
window that ties in with her comforter and the purple in her closet. By the
time she gets back from camp the first week of August her room should be
finished and my oldest daughter will have her room to herself once again.
Now, I need to stop procrastinating and get to work on my
novel, so I can send in my section for critique on time this week.
