Nasty,
mean-spirited people always surprise me for some reason. I think I'm surprised
by that type of behavior because I try not to be that way, I try to be gracious
even when the green-eyed monster wants to pop out or keep my mouth closed if I
know that what I want to say isn't the nicest, my mother taught me that. What's
my point, well I am wondering why the nasty people are afraid to use my
comments section, but instead send me nasty grams via e-mail. I assume that I'm
getting the e-mail because I want to know whom my commenters are beyond
anonymous. Yesterday, I posted that I finished my NaNo challenge and then
started receiving e-mail with subject lines like congrads, congrats and
congratulations on NaNo!!! Well I opened them only to read other peoples sour
grapes. Get over yourselves, if you spent the time it took you to write me a
500-word e-mail belittling me for my accomplishment you could be 500 words
closer to your 50K. I never said my 50K+ words were the best written, I just
said I finished and I had what I needed when the time comes for me to
concentrate on the revisions.
Not
all the e-mail was nasty; some asked how I did it. Well, I don't respond to
anonymous e-mail usually but will do so here. I write almost everyday for at
least three hours sometimes more. I work on my fiction primarily in the early
morning, I write whether I feel like it or not, my dream is to be a published
novelist and the only way to reach that dream is to practice and write. It is a
priority in my life just as my family and pets are. There are three things that
get me up every morning, my writing, family and my dogs and regardless of what
I feeling I take care of all three everyday.
If
you want to write, then write! If you want to accept the NaNo challenge then do
so and write whatever you can to reach that goal. If all you doubters need to
know I wrote on average 3500K a day, some days I wrote for three hours other I
wrote for far more. I ended up writing on the weekends before my family woke
and when the kids and DH went to their hockey activities. I planned for NaNo
this year with a loose plot outline and character sketches and when NaNo began
I just sat my ass in the chair and wrote. That's all.
I
decided to set a new goal for my Beneath the Surface novel, I am going to take
what's left with NaNo and try to finish it. 30K will probably be enough to
finish what's left of the middle and end sections, if I can finish before my
Dec. 22 deadline I'll be able to spend more time catching up on my reading and
researching medical aspects of the novel as well as researching info for my
NaNo novel rewrite. Good writing to all!
Hear hear...and poo on them. I got a comment a couple months ago when I went from 3,000-something to 22,000 on my memoir in about 5 days...claiming there was NO WAY. YES WAY, PEOPLE. YES WAY!
