House, Computer & LCD

I have this insane urge to wake my daughter this morning and say, "Hurry up you're going to be late for school!" It's the first real day of summer vacation, of course I'm not going to do that, but it would be fun to see what she would do. The weather's been perfect since Friday, in the 70's and low 80's with almost no humidity, open the windows weather. I’d much rather have the windows open than the AC going, it saves me money and I'm able to avoid summer colds that I blame on the AC. I’m getting over a cold now.

Things around my house are continuing to fall apart, two weeks ago our one working garage door broke. The bar that attaches the opener to the door snapped off the door, the only thing we could do is replace the door, but our garage doors are green so we have to replace both. We went to Lowe’s last Sunday and placed the order for two new doors and bought a second opener. In two weeks and $1500 later the doors should be here and installed. We've fixed more in this house over the last three months it's getting ridiculous, first it was the hot water heater, then a new toilet, we saved money with the toilet by doing it ourselves. After the toilet it was our sparking range, again Lowe’s to the rescue, then after six long months of not being able to use our master bath shower we had the diverter replaced and we once again have awesome water pressure and no longer have to share a bathroom with our little pigs.

We still have a few things to finish and fix, our screened in porch needs to be rescreened, which we'll do ourselves since that shouldn't be too hard and we STILL need to put the ceiling and new light fixtures up to complete our basement renovation that started after hurricane Isabel.

The kids new homework/computer center is almost complete, I still need to hang the curtains add a few fun pictures, install the wireless adapter I bought for their PC, then I have the fun task of moving the PC and updating all the software so they don't let in any of those nasty Trojans and viruses. I purchase a new Sony Flat Panel LCD this weekend and WOW I can't believe what I've been missing while viewing and working on photos. I had a folder marked for deletion and I decided to look at the pictures again and thank heaven I did because I found some real gems, I can only imagine how many other photo files I deleted that were similar. But I push those thoughts from my mind because it makes me sick to think about it.

That's my boring reality for today, now I need to work on my novel before the kiddos wake.

  1. The first day of March Break this year we were having bad weather. We woke the kids up at 7:30 a.m. and told them not to worry about getting out of bed because buses were canceled. They got excited...for a moment...and then they remembered it was March Break. We are cruel parents!
