Average Thursday

Happy Turkey Day! It doesn't feel like a holiday to me, it feels like an average Thursday. I'm not cooking anything except pizza and perhaps that's why. I have no worries other than I need to get to the store for cat litter. I ran out yesterday and the kitty needs more litter so he can potty comfortably. Thankfully K-Mart is open all day today so I'll send the hubby out, maybe with the kids and get an hour to myself. Hopefully he won't read this entry until after he gets the litter.

Yesterday I cleaned part of the house, mainly the kitchen and family room and it was nice not to rush to get it all done. I don't cook much or well, but there is something about seeing a clean kitchen. It makes me feel better about other things I have to do or let slide. And I let lots of things slid and thankfully I have a husband that doesn't harp on the things I don't get accomplished. I probably spend too much time writing, but as a writer I don't think anytime I write is too much. I also hang out with my camera and favorite subjects my dog’s way more than most normal people. While I'm writing or hanging with my camera and dogs many wives or mothers are most likely doing laundry, dusting, planning the dinner menu or anything domestic, but not me the only household chore I enjoy or do often is vacuuming. I've been known to vacuum a few times a day, not because I need too, but because it helps me think and work out plot problems in my writing or composition and exposure problems in my photography.

Today even though it's a holiday I've already added to my novel word count, written this blog, taken the trash out and played a twenty-minute game of fetch with Wyatt Earp the Goldendoodle. Not much by many standards, but considering it's only 7:50 am and I've been up since 5 am it's probably more than most. Well, time to actually put a load of laundry on and wash the mud off the wall in the family room. Wyatt Earp thinks he's Picasso Dog. Happy Turkey!

  1. I can totally id with your whole blog. I have hardwood floors, so I get my ideas when I'm buffing them. Sometimes my family thinks that I've gone nuts because I "talk out" my characters conversations as I work. Hope you had a great holiday!
