No Stress Turkey Day

Sometimes I get so caught up in writing my novel, working on my photography or playing with the dogs that I forget some things and this week it somehow escaped my mind that kids fall break begins today. I thought I had a whole day more but apparently the school system thinks it's more important to give the kids off so that their families can get an early travel start. We're not traveling anywhere for Thanksgiving, we're staying home and we're going to eat pizza, watch football and DVD's. No stress of cooking a huge turkey dinner, just comfort and family time. Lord will we survive or will we tear each other apart. I'm kidding we won't tear anyone apart.

Perhaps we'll head out and get some shopping done. We still have two presents to buy for our youngest niece and nephew. As right now I don't think my sister's and I are exchanging presents. This is cool with me, but I will miss the giving. I like getting gifts as much as the next person, but I love giving them more. I’d rather skip Christmas gift giving and do birthdays. Celebrating birthdays is more important in my eyes.

With the kids off from school today and still asleep, I am furiously writing this blog and finishing the scenes I started on my WIP Below the Surface. I have an estimated 15K to write to complete the first draft, which should be doable before November 30th. The down side is I have to type it all into my Alphasmart from the notebook I use for the first draft. Since I haven't transcribed any since last week I don't have a submission for my crit group. Rather than stress about it I'll start transcribing and read what they sub and hope that I'll have a submission by later this evening. Time to start typing, Happy Turkey day to all!
