Budding Chef, Finished Book # 12 in 10 Weeks

Yesterday was full of running around, grocery shopping and just plain getting nothing accomplished. Oldest DD returned two tee shirts at Kohl’s and youngest DD saw plenty of clothes she wanted for the new school year. I had to play the mean mom and say no for now. I just don’t see the point of spending money on fall/winter clothes when it’s still too hot to wear them. I have my girls wait until the end of October and then we hit the sales.

Once we finished yesterday with all our errands we came home and it was time prepare dinner and thankfully I didn’t have to cook it. Oldest DD asked if she could and she prepared a lemon-pepper chicken breast with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was her first time making a whole dinner and she hit a home run. It tasted wonderful and her dad who really doesn’t like chicken had to admit it tasted fabulous.

Tonight DD is cooking dinner again. I have no idea what she is making but I have every confidence that it’ll turn out just fine.

I also finished book number 12 yesterday. I read Elizabeth Berg’s, Say When in about six hours. It’s not a long book by any means but most of her books are very engaging and keep you turning the pages. Today I am starting book 13 Stardust or maybe the other Berg book sitting on my bookcase. There is one week left of summer break for the kids and none for me I go back to work tomorrow. My goal at the beginning of summer was to read a book a week, I did that. Actually I read 12 in 10 weeks and even though my vacation is over I should have 13 finished before the end of week 11. I haven’t read so many books consecutively since I was in grade school.

Well, I’m off to start my book.

Until next time good writing and reading!

  2. Kris is jealous that you get to read so much. Sounds like DD is well on her way to being a chef. I'm sure the dogs will appreciate it when she starts baking for them. I listened to American Gods and Anansi Boys by Gaiman. Both good and different. Hope Stardust is a good read.

  3. I haven't always been a fast reader. It's like anything else practice, practice, practice.

  4. Now that I'm back to work my book reading will slow down. I have American Gods and Anansi Boys on my want list.
