Yesterday I finished reading Stardust and while I enjoyed the story I wasn’t blown away the way die-hard Gaiman fans said I would be. However I did enjoy it enough that I will definitely read another by him. I am now rereading Eragon and reading for the first time a book called Seeing, by Jose Saramago. According to a review he’s written a spot on political parable. I plan to have both of these books finished before the end of next week, but they will be my reward for finishing two of my other short writing projects. My online crit group must think I’ve abandoned them but I haven’t I’ve been having e-mail woes.
If I finish one of the short stories today I plan to submit it to my group. I’m not used to writing short works like this, but I felt I needed to learn how to really write a short story. I want to stretch my mind and I’m always keen on learning new things. This also is giving me the break I need from my novel length work. I’m at a point in my life that I want to learn for the sake of learning. I’ve always been a curious person but I used to hide it. Now I’m through hiding and becoming a human sponge. But before I’m able to move on and read I need to walk my dogs and finish working on my short stories.
Until next time good writing and reading!
