Santa?

Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I have. I finished about three weeks ago, but then I don’t have much to buy. My family doesn’t exchange gifts. Well, we give gifts to the kids. I would rather give a gift on a family member’s birthday. And I don’t spend a ton of money. Why spend a ton of cash when the kid is going lose interest in the gift after five minutes. I must sound like a Grinch but I’m really not, I just wish the holiday was more about being together with family than what did *YOU* get me.

I’m also struggling with the question of do I tell my 10 year old Santa isn’t alive anymore? I think on some level she knows but I’m not sure. If I tell her will she be upset with me or will she say I already know. I don’t want to be her Grinch.

I keep toying with the idea of moving my blog to WordPress which is installed on my host server. I actually went as far as importing my posts from all three of my blogs. But now I need to bring the photos over and it just seems like a huge PITA. So I have decided not to move my blogs. I used to love to figure out all the site building stuff but now I just want to type and publish and TypePad is just too easy so I am deleting what I worked with WP. I’ve decided that I will stick with TP and combine all my blogs into one. The only other change that might take place is the name. I’m toying with the idea of using In Search Of now that my life is on a path of searching for well, everything I’m supposed to accomplish.

One part that won’t change is my bookshelf. I just finished The Kite Runner and it was the absolute best book I’ve read this year and I’ve read over 40. I’m still thinking about the story. While reading the book I felt uneasy, haunted and yet I felt compelled to read on. Each of the characters jumped off the pages with life. I could feel them; I’ve only read a handful of books in my life like that. If you haven’t read the book put it on your must read list.

Next on my list is The Three Junes for my book club and possibly The Madonna’s of Leningrad and if I’m lucky another Harlan Coben before the winter break is over.

Until next time good writing and reading!

  1. Sometimes figuring things out can be fun. But most of the time, I just want things to work. Keeping up with a blog is enough work :)
We don't do the exchanging of gifts thing either. We do get gifts for our young nieces and nephew.
Since you loved Kite Runner, you should read 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' if you haven't already. We both loved Kite Runner, but Kris thought Hosseini's second book was better.

  2. I'm all for things just working. I don't have the drive to figure out code and the junk that goes with it anymore. I have A Thousand Spendid Suns on my shelf. I can't wait to read it.
