Ten days into the new year and I’ve just finished my third book toward my goal of reading at least one a week. I read Jeannette Walls memoir The Glass Castle. Normally I don’t read memoirs but this was my book club selection. I don’t like to read memoirs because I get enough reality from my life and from the news. But I will say this was a beautifully written story. Walls is a wonderful storyteller. She told her story in a balanced fashion that didn’t leave me with a bitter or too sugary taste. If memoirs are something you enjoy then don’t pass this over, it’s one of the finest pieces of writing you’ll read.
Next book club book is The Count of Monte Cristo. I have three weeks to read that so while I’m reading that I will read John O’Hurley’s It’s Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump. This is only 156 pages and I expect to have it finished by tomorrow. So I will then read Harlan Coben’s Gone for Good. If I keep going I just might read 7 + books this month.
Until next time good writing and reading!
