The writing has gone
gangbusters! Even though I said I wasn't going to work on NaNo during the
weekend, I ended up writing while my family was asleep and away doing their
hockey practices. Last week I was way ahead and early this morning I finished
transcribing my NaNo writing from my notebooks and found that I have reached
the 50K goal! Actually I have written a total of 53, 254. My NaNo novel has a
beginning, middle and an end. What it doesn't have is the details. I have a
great jumping off point with my next novel; I have a good understanding of the
main players as well as a good framework for two of the subplots. So, I'm
finished with NaNo, but have to wait until November 25 to upload the completed
challenge. My goal was to finish by the 25th, so I'm happy to be finished,
because now I can concentrate on finishing my WIP Beneath the Surface.
I still have the last part of
the middle section to write as well as the ending and my goal is to have the
entire first draft completed by Dec. 22, because that's when my kids begin
their winter break. It's also my planned hiatus from writing and a time when I
catch up on my magazine reading and try to start and finish the top five novels
on my list to read. So, with NaNo behind me, I'm off to finish Beneath the Surface.
Good writing!
Congratulations Linda! I started Nano and got overwhelmed with everything else that came my way (a rescued dog, two deadlines on the same day) and didn't write after day 3. I did some calculating yesterday and figured out I CAN complete it before the 30th without making myself crazy or giving anything up so I've almost hit the 10k mark!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Linda! Your tenacity is always inspiring to me! :)
