Even Happier Dogs

My dogs get happier with each passing day. The warming
weather is a huge part but they are getting to participate in their favorite
activities again and that is walking and playing with me. My dog’s patience is
wonderful because I am having difficulty with my personal slow progress. Almost
four months ago I used to walk a total of two to five miles a day with my dogs
but I got sick and it all came to a screeching halt. My family stepped up and
did a wonderful job exercising the dogs and playing with them in the back yard
but it didn’t compare to the brisk walks I took with them in addition to our
back yard play time. Over the last two weeks the dogs and I have progressed
from 10 minute walks around the block to almost 30 minutes of walk time five
days a week.

It’s doing wonders for me, but the difference I see in my
dogs is amazing. Dexter is less pushy, tense and his muscles are firm again.
Wyatt is less barky and he’s slimmed back down to a trim 62 lbs. Josie Josie91600901
is the
most amazing! My little boss hog is calmer and we’re finally seeing a change in
her body weight since cutting her food intake. First thing with Josie that I’ve
noticed is she pays much more attention to me.

She looks to me for the next
move. Instead of barking uncontrollably at the small dogs behind us she runs to
the fence and stops short and looks to me. Instead of barking she comes to me
when I call! I had Josie for two years now and I never thought I’d see the day
that she would be house broken but she is and I never thought I’d see the day I’d
be interesting enough to get her nose off the ground, but I am apparently more
interesting than the ankle biters in the next yard. I have finally learned not
to use the word never with Josie because she proves me wrong every time.

Until next time Woof, Woof and a Roo!

  1. I play with the kids in the back yard, but I should be better about walking them more often. I see some of the grass has managed to grow back :) Let's hope a hot summer doesn't create a dustbowl.
