A Dog Day

Yesterday was literally a dog day. The husband and I spent most of our day doing doggie related stuff. Our first errand was to take Dexter to his new vet for his first dental cleaning. We arrived promptly at 8 am and even though he’d only been there once before he just pranced away with the tech and barely looked back at us. I called and checked on him at noon and he was doing well and by 3 pm he’d had a tooth pulled and the rest cleaned.

But that wasn’t the end of doggie stuff. The DH and I after dropping Dexter off at the vet drove to the new Petco that opened down the road from us. We had to wait a few minutes for it to open so we went into the Home Depot to check prices on some tools and birch plywood. Once we checked the prices, Petco was open and we went over and checked it out. We bought two Natural Balance beef and lamb rolls. I love using these as my training treats. I also spoke with the groomers and watched them groom some dogs. I was pleased with what they said and what I saw and I took Wyatt in to have his terrible groom from last month fixed. Wyatt was ready to be picked up right after we picked Dexter up. We dropped Dexter off at home and went back out to get Wyatt and what a difference a good groomer makes! Wyatt looks fantastic! She cleaned his ears out, the long strands of fur forgotten last month are gone and so is the mop like look on top of his head! Wyatt looks like the dapper dog he’s supposed to be!

So Dexter and Wyatt spent the day away from home. Poor Josie spent the day at home alone. This was the first time in the two and one half years we’ve had her that she’d spent any time with out another dog and you know what she could have care less. She did the same as she always does. She slept on her dog bed.  By the end of the day everyone in my house was dog tired!

Today we have nothing scheduled but then we are in the middle of a heat wave, it’s 91 and feels like 102 and it’s only 11 am. I despise humidity and we have the three H’s today Hazy, Hot and Humid. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse and then Thursday starts our cool down (ha-ha) into the mid 80’s with slightly lower humidity.
