My Hottie Potty is no longer hot! Today the towel bar came out of the wall. Normally I wouldn’t be upset because I can fix that except that the wall was wet and smooshy. It seems that when I revamped the powder room and took the old towel rack out I unplugged a leak. You see the owners before us put the screw for the old holder right through a four inch drain pipe. I spackled the old holes painted and then hung my new towel holder. I used my stud finder but it turns out that it wouldn’t have mattered because the idiots before us put up a sheet of plywood! Like that would keep a three inch screw from hitting the pipe. So DH removed the vanity and sinks then continued to demo the bottom half of the wall. Tomorrow I will call the plumber and see how quickly he can get out here and fix the PVC pipe.
The demo was the only DIY project for us this weekend. Saturday morning the DH and I went out and bought closet organizer stuff. We did most of it yesterday and finished hanging the clothes rods this morning. Now my kids have a place to put their shoes that is not in the powder room and still out of the dogs reach. The DH also hung a new light. Gone is the contractor’s grade light fixture and in its place is adjustable track style lighting with a brushed nickel finish. It looks cool and fresh. The only problem now is that I need to paint the giant circle from the old fixture.
It seems that not only is this a year of change for me but my home as well.
I finished reading The Madonna’s of Leningrad and what a wonderful story! The detail and character’s were fabulous. I loved the way the author used the main character’s Alzheimer’s to go back to her past in Leningrad. It’s definitely one I recommend highly!
Until next time good reading and writing!
So sorry about that bathroom. I hope you get it fixed soon. Sounds like you've had a busy weekend.

Ugh, what a thing to discover! Hope you've got it all fixed up.
ReplyDeleteYou know, that's exactly how my house started. "I don't like this wall paper" ended up being, "what the hell did the previous owners do to this place" and now it's 12 years later.
ReplyDeleteoh nice. i hope that gets cleared up.
ReplyDeletei can't believe you're denying your dogs some stinky shoes.
Lisa, Too busy was the weekend and it doesn't seem to be letting up! I'm waiting for the plumber now.
ReplyDeleteKim, don't say that! I really don't want to gut and rehab no matter how much I say I enjoy DIY stuff.
ReplyDeleteYup, I mean the one. :But shoes are too expensive ;)
