- Kate Jacobs: Comfort Food December 10th, 2008. I
enjoyed this read much more than her first. Comfort Food's characters
were more engaging and real. I loved Jacobs easy style. (****) - Tess Gerritsen: The Bone Garden: A Novel December 6, 2008 (****)
- C. S. Lewis: The Magician's Nephew (paper-over-board) (Narnia) December 4, 2008 (****)
November 2008 Books (5)
- Nancy Horan: Loving Frank: A Novel November 27, 2008. They
say truth is stranger than fiction, well this story is a magnificent
blend of both. I already knew the facts about Wright's love affair with
Mamah but still felt the shock at the end of the book. This will likely
be my top favorite book of 2008. (*****) - Gail Carson Levine: Ella Enchanted November 20, 2008 Wonderful read. I read this out loud to a group of children and they enjoyed it as much as I did. (****)
- David Sedaris: Holidays on Ice November 14, 2008 Darkly funny. (****)
- Debbie Macomber: Mrs. Miracle November 10, 2008 Predictable.
The only reason I read this was because it was chosen for my book club.
I gave it 3 stars because it was well written. (***) - Stan Hutton: Nonprofit Kit For Dummies (For Dummies (Business & Personal Finance)) November 7, 2008 Good information and the CD adds more great info. (***)

August 2008 Books (5)
- Kathy Reichs: Death du Jour (Temperance Brennan Novels August 29, 2008 (***)
- Oscar Wilde: The Picture of Dorian Gray (Barnes & Noble Classics Series) (Barnes & Noble Classics) August 17, 2008 Too
wordy for my taste. As a play write Wilde is far better. I think he's a
classic showcase that just because you're able to write plays doesn't
me you can write fiction. (**) - Louise Hay: You Can Heal Your Life (Gift Edition) August 12, 2008 I've
been on my own spiritual journey trying to find what works and fits me
and my current life. I found this book interesting and after thinking on it a while realized that I already used the affirmations in some
areas of my life. I believe it works but you have to do the work to see
the results. (****) - Garth Nix: Grim Tuesday (Keys to the Kingdom, Book 2) August 8, 2008 Even
better than the first. It's action packed from beginning to end. The
Architect's world is visible to the reader from the start. (****) - Jim Fergus: One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd August 7, 2008 Fantastic!
I felt like I was there, a part of history. Fergus writes so
convincingly that you'll have a hard time believing it's fiction. (****)

- Lalita Tademy: Cane River (Oprah's Book Club) Feb. 13, 2008 Excellent and engaging read! (****)

- Audrey Niffenegger: The Time Traveler's Wife Feb. 21, 2008 This
started slowly for me. I almost stopped reading but decided to push
through the slow beginning. I was pleasantly surprised with a
satisfying story. I will definitely search out more by Niffenegger.
(***) - Elyse Schein: Identical Strangers: A Memoir of Twins Separated and Reunited Feb. 25, 2008 Their
TV spots were more interesting than their writing. For two women that
are writers I felt the writing was flat. Their writer's voice came off
as indifferent and uncaring about their own story. Upside is I learned
a few new things about DNA. (***) - Eckhart Tolle: A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61) Feb. 29, 2008 (****)
